Who would have thought that doing a simple alphabetizing project at my old job in a bookstore would have allowed me to stumble across such a find as your books. They are well written, thoughtful, interesting, and most definitely allowed me to get that “coming home feeling” you wrote about.

    You do wonderful work.

Thank you and blessings from Helena.

    Raven,
I absolutely loved your books Goth Craft and Shadow Magick, I can’t wait to read Planetary Spells and Rituals. Your books are well written and very informative, you shed light on very misunderstood subjects.

  11. Rosalie:

    Dear Raven,
So far, I have read the first chapter (What is Goth?) from your book, Goth Craft. I am completely enamuored and blown away by your vision of this culture. Your words are insightful, wise, and inspirational. I’ve been drawn to the darkness naturally; but I never hung out with people that are gothic. I thought that you had to know people to be gothic. Your book gave me a reason for being who I am and to explore this culture because it is part of my soul, not because it is a trend. I want to explore the realms of the world of Goth. I want to understand why I am drawn to it and fascinated by it. And what better way to understand Goth, than by becoming it? Thank you for that ease of mind and that breath of life. I am becoming a devout follower of your muse. You’ve shined your white light on my crystal and opened a rainbow within my spirit. Please come to Las Vegas. You would be warmly welcomed here. There are many people interested in darkness here. And what better way to ponder and reflect on darkness, than to discover it in a city that was built upon and welcomes sin. The Amy Whinehouse look is a huge trend in Las Vegas. I wonder what you think will think about that. Are they NotGoths or are they naively admiring the dark side? Also, I wonder why you don’t have any mention of the band, Garbage, in your book. I see that you are a black and white photographer. I used to pose for nude and artistic nude photography. I want to explore Goth through photography. I was wondering if you might be interested. I have a lot of ideas. Most of them based on why people that are so attracted to wearing black, but are also attracted to being noticed; a paradox of Goth culture’s self-expression and vanity.

  12. April Rose:

Thank you so much for all the work you’ve done. You’re first book, Goth Craft challenged a lot of preconceived notions I had and I’m very glad that I picked it up. The bits that I’ve read so far of Shadow Magick Compendium are also beautifully written and very thoughtful. These two books have literally changed my life. After reading them, or the first time in nearly two years, I was able to fall asleep in the dark with out any panic or anxiety attacks. Instead I felt calm, protected and peaceful. Once again, thank you.

  13. Alexx:

Hey Raven I see that you are a DJ and I was just wondering if you could send me a list of the Industrial bands and EBM just all the jazz you all the artist that you use Cause I too am trying to Become a Dj By the way do you use CDJ or turntables

  18. September S.:

I must admit, I couldn’t stop laughing when I first found your book in Books-A-Million, but not I wasn’t laughing out of ridicule. I laughing because I had just told my friend over the phone that nobody had ever written a book that truly described me, and five minutes later I found Goth Craft, which embodied irony at that moment. As a goth and a pagan, I love that book, and have carried it with me to school everyday.
I was a newby to the Craft, and wasn’t quite sure what I was doing, but Goth Craft led me by the hand into the world of the Craft, and showed me how I can better use my gothic traits to fit my pagan lifestyle. It also secured my faith in paganism as well. I extend a thousand thanks to you, and shall be buying Shadow Magick Compendium soon.
In Perfect Love and Perfect Trust,
    September S.

PS: Before I forget, I must say one last thing. On behalf of the vampyric community I thank you. I am a sanguinarian and cannot express how much joy and relief I feel that the vampyric community is finally represented truthfully and correctly in a book.

  19. Vayne:

    Hello,
I must say you have become a role model to me. I admire your work in writing and photography. You’ve made me realize that I can explore even more to this beautiful earth. I wish you beautiful days and luck with all your workings.

  23. Father Cain:

    Mr Digitalis-
I am a gothic, ritual satanist (NOT cult satanist, those guys are usually idiots and give us a bad name), and I would like to thank you for your work not only on the darker side of life and wicca, but also that you have mentioned that we true satanists are not the monsters that the cristian-controlled media has led everyone to beleive. Please continue to enlighten us all, and may you leade a long and pleasurable life.

  25. Connor Norton:

I am glad that I bought GOTH CRAFT when I did, because it helps me to refute some of the claims that people I know make about Goths being murderous creatures of the night… thank you for brightening up my world (or adding a little shadow, however you want to look at it)

may your days be full of laughter and music, and may Thor and Odin watch over you

  26. BloodRoses:

Raven! I found your _Goth Craft_ in a bookstore. I absolutely adore it! It’s just what I’ve been looking for–someone who truly understands the intersection of Goth and the Craft! I’m like a bird–I’ve been soul searching and exploring for as long as I can remember, and reading your book was like coming home. I, too, am very into Buddhist and other Eastern Philosophies and I was very drawn to your wonderfully written musings on the subjects. I can’t praise your work enough! It’s so refreshing to find you and your work–someone kick-ass who shares the same beliefs on Goth and the Craft! Yayayayayayay! I just found _The Shadow Magick Compendium_, so that’s my next read (I loooove Jungian psychology–the archetypes, the shadow…so I’m super excited!)! Thank you, thank you! For all you do!

    Namaste and Blessed Be!

  27. Stephanie:

I love the site, do you have the actual store open yet? I grew up north of you on the Flathead Res. Hot Springs, to be exact. I still have family in the area, although I am currently living in Florida. I may have to have my sister stop in and visit.
The next time I am at home visiting, I will be stopping in as well.

  33. GypsyPanther:

    Hi,
I’ve been gothic and punk since i was about 9 (1980) and i’ve been pagan since i was 13 (1984). I saw your book goth craft in Barns and Nobles just by accident and bought it. I am probably older then most of your normal comments but who ever said I was normal LOL. I have started to look into OAO (just scratching the serface) and it calls to me in a way that most pagan systems have fallen short and would love more info on it if it’s posible.

    Thank you,

    GypsyPanther

  34. Nevre:

I was raised in a strict home, my parents were always putting by darkside down. Some years ago I started trying to find my way in my deviance your books really helped.

  39. Alex Acevedo:

I have read/own goth craft, which by the way is a kick ass book. After reading it I understood the full meaning of the word “gothic”. I joined a cult on vampirefreaks called california gothic’s. They had the question what is goth? which was not the best answered very well by the cult owner. They would go against what the said wasn’t a goth then listed it under goth? Which to me is poor research, and poor jugdment. Point being I told them about your book, so hats off to you. Let your book be known for all of those who are confussed about the many different lifestyles of goth. Oh by the way am Graver like yourself, I live for the electro music world I thank you very much for am glad I came across you book for it was the last one the store had. eeeeee lucky me :-)

HI AGAIN, I JUST FINISHED GOTHCRAFT AND BEING A NATIVE AMERICAN I WAS SO HAPPY THAT YOU INCLUDED US INDIGINOUS FOLK IN YOUR PAGES. IF YOU HAVE NEVER ATTENDED A POW-WOW I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT ESPECIALLY IF IT IS ONE THAT INVITES ‘WHITE PEOPLE’ TO JOIN THE CIRCLE FOR A SNAKE DANCE. THE ENERGY IS NOTHING BUT BEAUTIFUL. I AM ALSO A RECOVERING STREET DRUG ADDICT OF NINE YEARS AND YOUR WORDS ON THE DRUG CULTURE WERE VERY INSPIRING TO ME. THANK YOU!!!!! NAMSTE JEN

    Raven,
Thank you for being on MTV. I have moved out of the shadows and am more open about my faith in the Goddess. I unfortunately go to a catholic high school and am some times made an ass of. However, seeing you on MTV brightened my days and i now more open about my faith in spite of the daily torture I receive in school.
Blessed Be and have a joyful Imbloc.

  47. pumpkinqueen86:

Raven I purchased Goth Craft last year and I absolutely love it! I’m also a huge fan of Silver Ravenwolf, but my Goth Craft is like my goth pagan bible. It’s the perfect blend of a too often misunderstood counterculture and wiccan beliefs. Thank you very much for producing the book. And blessed be!

  48. JEN:

  57. Ash:

Hiya Raven! I just want to say Thank You, from the bottom of my heart for GothCraft. I feel like, reading this book has helped me find acceptance of myself. I come from a very narrow-minded small town, and just knowing there are others out there like me that are called to both the gothic and magickal lifestyles is a great relief(and a gift, to know I’m not alone). Thank you for posting your poetry, which is very beautiful, and the spirit in which they were written just makes me sigh in happiness. I wish I had such a talent with words! Shadow Magick is at the top of my shopping list, and I can’t wait to read it, especially if it’s as amazing as GothCraft. Thanks too, for all the music recs in your book, I have so much more to discover now!
Love and hugs, you gorgeous spirit, you!
    Blessed be,
    Ash

“What lies before us and what lies behind us is nothing compared to what lies within us.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

    I LIVE off quotes :)

  79. Sarina:

Hi, Raven :) I’m 14 and 3 months ago, I read your lovely book Goth Craft. Honestly, at first I was really scared because I didn’t know anything about all the things in the book and it was like discovering a new world. But then I got over it and I’ve been studying Wicca and Witchcraft for almost a month :) I feel so enlightened and sad that I’ve never understood this before. My family doesn’t really support me and that makes it really hard :( I hope one day they’ll realize the wonder of Magick too.

  80. Lyddia:

Raven. You have been an inspiration too me! I have never felt so excepted into this world or into the craft until reading your book ‘Goth Craft’. I can’t wait to get a hold of the next one. And to learn all I can in my spirituality. And keeping on the track of ongoing learning.

  81. mystic raven:

i enjoyed meeting you today hope to see you again

  82. Jason:

You have a very calming sense to everything you do, even when it’s meant to be brutal. Thank you for being a voice that is so accessible, yet so knowledgeable.

  83. Alex:

First time visitor to your killer site!! I love it ! Any advice for a goth who wants to model goth? Please help if you can.
    Thankyou,
    Alex

  84. Melanie Harris:

Raven, your Shadow Magick Compendium book is amazing! This book will help anyone who seeks to break past whatever is blocking the attainment of higher states of spiritual evolution. It’s a great reference, too, with all the dark animal associations and dark herb information. I love all the stuff in the book that is so unique, stuff you don’t see anywhere else, like your instructions for making best magickal use of the energies of eclipses. Keep the good books coming, mr. raven!

  85. scare crow:

thanx for writing such an insightful book, it has brought me quite a bit of clarity

  86. Ashes JH:

    Dear Raven,

I just picked up “Goth Craft” this evening and I must say: THANK YOU SO MUCH. I’ve been a member of the Goth culture for about 5 years now, but I’ve learned so much from reading your text. So far, it’s serving as an excellent source for me to TRULY discover who I am. I would be ever so delighted to meet you in person someday to have you sign my copy of “Goth Craft”. It means to much to me and from this day forward it will remain a favorite of mine. It has earned a place on the 2nd shelf of my bookcase (a place of honor, you see, for I only put the best of my collection at eye level). Once again, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Your newest fan, as of 9.3.2008,
    Ashes JH

  87. Laurasdraco:

    Hello Raven,
It was awsome to meet you as well . It is my first time to meet an author and Goth Craft is, therefore the first book I have ever had signed by the author. So far it is a great book, the vast information in it is teaching me a great deal. I look forward to finishing it and collecting others.

    Blessed Be,

    Laura (Colorado)

I stopped by to tell you that I am very proud of you and your community of friends in Montana. The interviews you gave for the MTV special were wonderful. Bright blessings to you all!

  104. LavenStar Raene:

    Merry Meet,

I just saw your MTV video and you did well. GL Giles, my very good friend from SC sent it to me. I am so proud of you for getting it out there that most witches do good things and are not baby eaters, lol.

I’d love to invite you to my site, Laven’s Lair. http://www.lavenslair.com
It’s a sight for the beginning witch or the well-traveled witch. I have put a lot of love into it. I am also a professional psychic and do work from there as well in my chat room and forum. I also go live on the air 1-2x a month as Princess paranoia through PsychicBitch.com and have been rated as #1 Spellwork from CosmicPsychic.com and NewMoon.com as well.

I’d be interested in adding your place in cyber world to my links and sister site, if you’re interested. Check out that page if you go to LL. Maybe there is a way we could help eachother advertise. BTW~ I know Troll and Mystic Radio… he and I belong to the same group. Wierd thing was that we have been chatting here recently trying to figure out what our connection was.

    Blessed Be,
    Lady LavenStar Raene

  105. Dianne:

  113. Rave:

    Hey Raven.
I’ve basically read “Goth Craft” front to cover at least twice by now. It’s honestly one of the best books on the craft I own and the only one that incorporates goth culture.
    And the website, is awesome.
    ~Rave Silvercat

  114. Chirotus Infinitum:

I finally got a chance to peruse your book, and found it to be amusing, insightful, and very interesting. I look forward to your upcoming release as well.

I am also impressed by your online store — perhaps soon I shall sample some of your bath salts and other products.

    Best Wishes,
    Chirotus Infinitum

  115. Bec:

Ok my bad spelling mistake in the link it’s an underscore instead of the - and apologise if I sound rude. >.

  116. Bec:

Hey I’ve almost finished your book and it’s a really good, I finished writing a letter maybe just half hour ago. Hope you don’t mind…
    And your website looks great.

Pyramid in a heart… I’ll help with that.
A pyramid spiritually and physically are very strong, can last for eons and still look like they were made yesterday, so I’m guessing it associates with strength and the ability to withstand something for an amount of time among other things.
The heart on the other hand is tenderness and the connection with emotions. You of all people should know that. Lol.

Put them together and you have a poweferful symbol, and choose tats carfully, they last all your life. And placed correctly can look wonderful.

    Bec.

  117. Rowanwolf:

I’m hoping you are familiar with symbols and their meanings.
What does the pyramid inside a heart mean.
I’m debatting on getting this as a tat..altho after my first tat ,I swore not to get another. This symbol seems to vex me for some reason. Is this a good or bad symbol.
Please let me know, if you would be so kind.

    Thanks and GR8 work.
    Blessed Be to You
    Rowanwolf

  118. Sherri:

Hello you lovely beautiful spirit! Eddie and I just recived the New Witch mag. in the mail today. I’m so happy to see you on the cover. It was so freaking cool to open the mail and see you smiling back at me and on New witch no less. Although I Can’t honestly say I was shocked. I mean I wouldn’t expect anything less from you. You are a bright shiny star and so of course you going to shoot for the heavens! Cheers to you my friend. May your future hold more bright blessings as your branches reach out farther. I’m so proud of you. I love you

    Blessed Be,
    Sherri

  119. Gothic Girl:

After placing Goth Craft at the top of my Christmas Wishlist, my father-in-law (a rather non-enlightened fellow!) bought it for me as a gift!

I have to say that I can NOT put it down & it follows me around the house, so that I can pick it up again & again, finding some new titbit each time I read it. my husband keeps saying “not reading that book again, are you?”.

What a wonderful book, and I love the reference to ‘darksiders’ - makes us sound even more mysterious. More books please!

  120. YourPersonalSuccubus:

I origionally pick up GothCraft for my husband’s 25th birthday present, but I have to admit he hasn’t had a chance to read it yet(mostly because I carry it around with me and have reread it at least five times this past month!). It is a wonderfully written, beautifully put together piece of highly informative literature. When it finally gets to join the ranks of my other witchy/Pagan books it it will be first on the shelf!!! Thank you, thank you, a thousand times thank you for GothCraft! I squirm in anticipation for your next piece of genius!

    Blessed Be!

  121. Catherine:

    I purchased your book yesterday.
    I loved it!
I have already read it all the way through.
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight I received from it.
I am eager to see you produce many more books in the future :)

  122. thedarkangel:

  125. LuciFer Lacrimosa:

I thank You so much for Your book GOTH CRAFT. This is a little more dark-pagan or pop-goth style, I find many things not to said etc, but it’s just a first book and everything have its beginning. Thank You for the very beginning!

  129. Blue Noel:

I just wanted to tell you how much I love your book. I just got it for my birthday present. It has opened my mind and allowed me to view my life in a different way. I thank you alot for your wonderful work. It has motivated me to learn more about more traditional magick. For the past 9 years of my life I was a non-traditional witch, but I believe knowledge is power. So in learning more about different branches of magick, will strengthen my spiritual being.

    Thank you again,

    Blue Noel

  130. Akasha:

  131. Michelle:

I just picked up Goth Craft & so far I love this book! I am glad you wrote this book!

  132. Bernadette:

Honestly when I picked up your book on the new books shelf in Boarders I was expecting it to be another of those “cool/poser” supposed dark magic crap.
Now I’m glade I picked up Goth Craft because after reading the intro I proceeded to buy it and take it home, and since I haven’t put it down (I have only 10 or so pages to go and then it’s finished) I’ve been quite impressed on how well your ability to blend the Gothic subculture and paganism with out overbearing on one or the other and not ignoring the fact that to be one you don’t have to be the other.
I look forward to reading any further material that you put out.
And extra kudos to your website.

    ~Bernadette

  133. Crystal:

I just browsed your site from the Helena Pagan Pride Day page. I found it to be interesting. If I do go to the festival in Helena I may stop by and say hi. I am at a crossroads in life I used to at one time be Pagan and was considering being Wiccan but at this time I dunno.

I was tricked in the past so I am reluctant to trust anything right off.
