There are many people interested in darkness here. And what better way to ponder and reflect on darkness, than to discover it in a city that was built upon and welcomes sin. The Amy Whinehouse look is a huge trend in Las Vegas. I wonder what you think will think about that. Are they NotGoths or are they naively admiring the dark side? Also, I wonder why you don’t have any mention of the band, Garbage, in your book. I see that you are a black and white photographer. I used to pose for nude and artistic nude photography. I want to explore Goth through photography. I was wondering if you might be interested. I have a lot of ideas. Most of them based on why people that are so attracted to wearing black, but are also attracted to being noticed; a paradox of Goth culture’s self-expression and vanity.
Thank you so much for all the work you’ve done. You’re first book, Goth Craft challenged a lot of preconceived notions I had and I’m very glad that I picked it up. The bits that I’ve read so far of Shadow Magick Compendium are also beautifully written and very thoughtful. These two books have literally changed my life. After reading them, or the first time in nearly two years, I was able to fall asleep in the dark with out any panic or anxiety attacks. Instead I felt calm, protected and peaceful. I must admit, I couldn’t stop laughing when I first found your book in Books-A-Million, but not I wasn’t laughing out of ridicule. I laughing because I had just told my friend over the phone that nobody had ever written a book that truly described me, and five minutes later I found Goth Craft, which embodied irony at that moment. As a goth and a pagan, I love that book, and have carried it with me to school everyday.
I was a newby to the Craft, and wasn’t quite sure what I was doing, but Goth Craft led me by the hand into the world of the Craft, and showed me how I can better use my gothic traits to fit my pagan lifestyle. It also secured my faith in paganism as well. I extend a thousand thanks to you, and shall be buying Shadow Magick Compendium soon.

I’ve been gothic and punk since i was about 9 (1980) and i’ve been pagan since i was 13 (1984). I saw your book goth craft in Barns and Nobles just by accident and bought it. I am probably older then most of your normal comments but who ever said I was normal LOL. I have started to look into OAO (just scratching the serface) and it calls to me in a way that most pagan systems have fallen short and would love more info on it if it’s posible.
I was raised in a strict home, my parents were always putting by darkside down. Some years ago I started trying to find my way in my deviance your books really helped.

I have read/own goth craft, which by the way is a kick ass book. After reading it I understood the full meaning of the word “gothic”. I joined a cult on vampirefreaks called california gothic’s. They had the question what is goth? which was not the best answered very well by the cult owner. They would go against what the said wasn’t a goth then listed it under goth? Which to me is poor research, and poor jugdment. Point being I told them about your book, so hats off to you. Let your book be known for all of those who are confussed about the many different lifestyles of goth. Honestly, at first I was really scared because I didn’t know anything about all the things in the book and it was like discovering a new world. Pyramid in a heart… I’ll help with that.
A pyramid spiritually and physically are very strong, can last for eons and still look like they were made yesterday, so I’m guessing it associates with strength and the ability to withstand something for an amount of time among other things.
The heart on the other hand is tenderness and the connection with emotions. You of all people should know that. Lol.
Put them together and you have a poweferful symbol, and choose tats carfully, they last all your life. And placed correctly can look wonderful.
I’m hoping you are familiar with symbols and their meanings.
What does the pyramid inside a heart mean.
I’m debatting on getting this as a tat..altho after my first tat ,I swore not to get another.This symbol seems to vex me for some reason.Is this a good or bad symbol.

After placing Goth Craft at the top of my Christmas Wishlist, my father-in-law (a rather non-enlightened fellow!) bought it for me as a gift!
I have to say that I can NOT put it down & it follows me around the house, so that I can pick it up again & again, finding some new titbit each time I read it. my husband keeps saying “not reading that book again, are you?”.
What a wonderful book, and I love the reference to ‘darksiders’ - makes us sound even more mysterious. More books please!
I origionally pick up GothCraft for my husband’s 25th birthday present, but I have to admit he hasn’t had a chance to read it yet(mostly because I carry it around with me and have reread it at least five times this past month!). It is a wonderfully written, beautifully put together piece of highly informative literature. When it finally gets to join the ranks of my other witchy/Pagan books it it will be first on the shelf!!! I just wanted to tell you how much I love your book. I just got it for my birthday present. It has opened my mind and allowed me to view my life in a different way. I thank you alot for your wonderful work. It has motivated me to learn more about more traditional magick. For the past 9 years of my life I was a non-traditional witch, but I believe knowledge is power. So in learning more about different branches of magick, will strengthen my spiritual being.
Honestly when I picked up your book on the new books shelf in Boarders I was expecting it to be another of those “cool/poser” supposed dark magic crap.
Now I’m glade I picked up Goth Craft because after reading the intro I proceeded to buy it and take it home, and since I haven’t put it down (I have only 10 or so pages to go and then it’s finished) I’ve been quite impressed on how well your ability to blend the Gothic subculture and paganism with out overbearing on one or the other and not ignoring the fact that to be one you don’t have to be the other.
I look forward to reading any further material that you put out.

So far, I have read the first chapter (What is Goth?) from your book, Goth Craft. I am completely enamuored and blown away by your vision of this culture. Your words are insightful, wise, and inspirational. I’ve been drawn to the darkness naturally; but I never hung out with people that are gothic. I thought that you had to know people to be gothic. Your book gave me a reason for being who I am and to explore this culture because it is part of my soul, not because it is a trend. I want to explore the realms of the world of Goth. I want to understand why I am drawn to it and fascinated by it. And what better way to understand Goth, than by becoming it? Thank you for that ease of mind and that breath of life. I am becoming a devout follower of your muse. You’ve shined your white light on my crystal and opened a rainbow within my spirit. Please come to Las Vegas. You would be warmly welcomed here. There are many people interested in darkness here. And what better way to ponder and reflect on darkness, than to discover it in a city that was built upon and welcomes sin. The Amy Whinehouse look is a huge trend in Las Vegas. I wonder what you think will think about that. Are they NotGoths or are they naively admiring the dark side? Also, I wonder why you don’t have any mention of the band, Garbage, in your book. I see that you are a black and white photographer. I used to pose for nude and artistic nude photography. I want to explore Goth through photography. I was wondering if you might be interested. I have a lot of ideas. Most of them based on why people that are so attracted to wearing black, but are also attracted to being noticed; a paradox of Goth culture’s self-expression and vanity.

Thank you so much for all the work you’ve done. You’re first book, Goth Craft challenged a lot of preconceived notions I had and I’m very glad that I picked it up. The bits that I’ve read so far of Shadow Magick Compendium are also beautifully written and very thoughtful. These two books have literally changed my life. After reading them, or the first time in nearly two years, I was able to fall asleep in the dark with out any panic or anxiety attacks. Instead I felt calm, protected and peaceful. Once again, thank you.

I must admit, I couldn’t stop laughing when I first found your book in Books-A-Million, but not I wasn’t laughing out of ridicule. I laughing because I had just told my friend over the phone that nobody had ever written a book that truly described me, and five minutes later I found Goth Craft, which embodied irony at that moment. As a goth and a pagan, I love that book, and have carried it with me to school everyday.
I was a newby to the Craft, and wasn’t quite sure what I was doing, but Goth Craft led me by the hand into the world of the Craft, and showed me how I can better use my gothic traits to fit my pagan lifestyle. It also secured my faith in paganism as well. I extend a thousand thanks to you, and shall be buying Shadow Magick Compendium soon.

Raven! I found your _Goth Craft_ in a bookstore. I absolutely adore it! It’s just what I’ve been looking for–someone who truly understands the intersection of Goth and the Craft! I’m like a bird–I’ve been soul searching and exploring for as long as I can remember, and reading your book was like coming home. I, too, am very into Buddhist and other Eastern Philosophies and I was very drawn to your wonderfully written musings on the subjects. I can’t praise your work enough! It’s so refreshing to find you and your work–someone kick-ass who shares the same beliefs on Goth and the Craft! Yayayayayayay! Hi,
I’ve been gothic and punk since i was about 9 (1980) and i’ve been pagan since i was 13 (1984). I saw your book goth craft in Barns and Nobles just by accident and bought it. I am probably older then most of your normal comments but who ever said I was normal LOL. I have started to look into OAO (just scratching the serface) and it calls to me in a way that most pagan systems have fallen short and would love more info on it if it’s posible.

I have read/own goth craft, which by the way is a kick ass book. After reading it I understood the full meaning of the word “gothic”. I joined a cult on vampirefreaks called california gothic’s. They had the question what is goth? which was not the best answered very well by the cult owner. They would go against what the said wasn’t a goth then listed it under goth? Which to me is poor research, and poor jugdment. Point being I told them about your book, so hats off to you. Let your book be known for all of those who are confussed about the many different lifestyles of goth. Oh by the way am Graver like yourself, I live for the electro music world I thank you very much for am glad I came across you book for it was the last one the store had. eeeeee lucky me :-)

I come from a very narrow-minded small town, and just knowing there are others out there like me that are called to both the gothic and magickal lifestyles is a great relief(and a gift, to know I’m not alone). Hi, Raven :) I’m 14 and 3 months ago, I read your lovely book Goth Craft. Honestly, at first I was really scared because I didn’t know anything about all the things in the book and it was like discovering a new world. But then I got over it and I’ve been studying Wicca and Witchcraft for almost a month :) I feel so enlightened and sad that I’ve never understood this before. My family doesn’t really support me and that makes it really hard :( I hope one day they’ll realize the wonder of Magick too.

Raven, your Shadow Magick Compendium book is amazing! This book will help anyone who seeks to break past whatever is blocking the attainment of higher states of spiritual evolution. It’s a great reference, too, with all the dark animal associations and dark herb information. I love all the stuff in the book that is so unique, stuff you don’t see anywhere else, like your instructions for making best magickal use of the energies of eclipses. Keep the good books coming, mr. raven!

Pyramid in a heart… I’ll help with that.
A pyramid spiritually and physically are very strong, can last for eons and still look like they were made yesterday, so I’m guessing it associates with strength and the ability to withstand something for an amount of time among other things.
The heart on the other hand is tenderness and the connection with emotions. You of all people should know that. Lol.
Put them together and you have a poweferful symbol, and choose tats carfully, they last all your life. And placed correctly can look wonderful.

After placing Goth Craft at the top of my Christmas Wishlist, my father-in-law (a rather non-enlightened fellow!) bought it for me as a gift!
I have to say that I can NOT put it down & it follows me around the house, so that I can pick it up again & again, finding some new titbit each time I read it. my husband keeps saying “not reading that book again, are you?”.
What a wonderful book, and I love the reference to ‘darksiders’ - makes us sound even more mysterious. More books please!

I origionally pick up GothCraft for my husband’s 25th birthday present, but I have to admit he hasn’t had a chance to read it yet(mostly because I carry it around with me and have reread it at least five times this past month!). It is a wonderfully written, beautifully put together piece of highly informative literature. When it finally gets to join the ranks of my other witchy/Pagan books it it will be first on the shelf!!! Honestly when I picked up your book on the new books shelf in Boarders I was expecting it to be another of those “cool/poser” supposed dark magic crap.
Now I’m glade I picked up Goth Craft because after reading the intro I proceeded to buy it and take it home, and since I haven’t put it down (I have only 10 or so pages to go and then it’s finished) I’ve been quite impressed on how well your ability to blend the Gothic subculture and paganism with out overbearing on one or the other and not ignoring the fact that to be one you don’t have to be the other.
I look forward to reading any further material that you put out.
